Order a dedicated server of any configuration

Last update:
  1. Select accessories.
  2. Place your order.

1. Select accessories

In the Server Configurator, by default, the selection of components starts with the processor and proceeds sequentially. You can change the order of component selection and start with the video card. After selecting one component, incompatible components are excluded in the next steps.

If you need help with selecting components, please create a ticket or contact us in other ways - contacts can be found at selectel.ru.

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. Select a project.

  3. If there are created servers in the project, in the Servers section click Order Server. If there are no servers in the project, the order page will open automatically.

  4. Open the Server Configurator tab.

  5. Optional: select the region and pool where the server will be created. The list of available components depends on the pool. The region and pool cannot be changed after the order is placed.

  6. Select the processor and specify the required quantity if it supports multiprocessor systems. Once an order has been placed, the processor in the server cannot be replaced. If a different processor or a change in the number of processors is required, order a new server.

  7. Configure the RAM:

    • select the total amount of memory;
    • or configure memory modules - to do this, click Manage Memory Modules, select the module capacity and specify the required number.
  8. Add disks:

    8.1 To plug a disk directly into the motherboard, click Add Disk, select the disk, and specify the desired quantity.

    NVMe disks may not be available if the motherboard does not have suitable slots for the selected configuration - in this case you can connect NVMe disks via the HBA controller in step 8.2.

    8.2 To connect a disk via HBA or RAID controller, click Add HBA or RAID controller, select the controller, click Add disk to controller, select the disk and specify the desired quantity.

  9. Optional: Add additional network cards. You can select the slot for the network card - PCI-e or OCP. If there are no slots available on the motherboard for the selected configuration, slot selection will not be available. For example, if there is no OCP slot on the motherboard, the network card will only be available in the PCI-e slot.

  10. Optional: add GPUs and specify the desired number.

  11. Optional: Add PCI-e trusted boot devices and specify the required number.

  12. Select the motherboard. If one motherboard option is available for the selected configuration, the field will be filled in automatically.

  13. Select an enclosure. If one enclosure option is available for the selected configuration, the field will be filled in automatically.

  14. In the Configuration block:

    14.1 Check the configuration of the dedicated server.

    14.2 Select a tariff plan.

    14.3 Click Order Server. You will be taken to the ordering process.

2. Place an order

  1. On the Checkout tab, check the configuration of the dedicated server.

  2. Check the region and pool where your server will be hosted. If necessary, change the region and pool. You cannot change the region and pool after placing an order.

  3. Optional: If you have added a single hardware RAID controller to your server configuration and will be using a Linux-based OS, configure a RAID array.

    Disks of the same size that have been added to the RAID controller are automatically combined into a single RAID array.

    To configure a RAID array:

    3.1 Click Add RAID Array or change the composition of disks in an existing array.

    3.2 Select the disks you want to add to the RAID array.

    3.3 Select the RAID type. Observe the characteristics of the types:

    • Only two disks can be added to a RAID1 array;
    • OS auto-installation is only available for Linux-based OS and RAID1 and RAID0 arrays.
  4. Select the operating system to automatically install on the server. To select:

  5. Optional: If you chose a Linux-based OS, customize the operating system configuration. You can:

    • partition the disks;
    • assign the system disk on which the OS will be installed;
    • configure software RAID.
  6. Optional: To securely connect to the server using the encrypted SSH protocol, select a previously downloaded and hosted SSH key or add a new one. For more information, see Create and upload an SSH key on a dedicated server.

  7. Optional: If you have a Linux-based OS and have not added HBAs and RAID controllers to the server configuration, the User data field will be available. To automate server configuration, specify server configuration parameters in cloud-config or bash script format. For more information, see User data examples.

  8. Choose a traffic consumption model.

  9. Select a rate plan.

  10. Specify the number of servers you want.

  11. Optional: If you selected an OS for auto-installation in step 4, configure the IP address, for this purpose select a VLAN:

  12. Optional: Enter a comment on the order. For example, specify the specifics of the hardware connection or the order in which you want the disks to be installed. The order in which disks are installed affects the order in which they are defined in the system. By default disks are installed in the following order: NVMe → SSD → HDD. If you do not assign a system disk in the partitioning, the OS will be installed on the disk that was first detected in the system.

  13. Optional: on the Additional Services tab, see the list of additional services. You can order additional services after server delivery.

  14. Confirm that you agree to the payment terms.

  15. Click Pay Now.

  16. Read the order information and click Pay. Depending on the selected components, it may take from one to five working days to prepare the server for operation. When the server is ready for delivery, you will receive an e-mail notification and you will be able to connect to it . From the moment the server is handed over, the paid period starts . The password from the server will be available for viewing 24 hours from the moment of server delivery. If you forget the password, you can reset and restore it.
