Astra Linux OS

Astra Linux Special Edition is a certified OS with built-in information security tools for working with sensitive information. Learn more in the Astra Linux documentation.

You can order the Astra Linux OS installation service from us, or purchase an Astra Linux license yourself and install the OS manually from your own image on your server. We provide Astra Linux Special Edition versions "Orel" 1.8 and "Voronezh" 1.8

To install the Astra Linux OS on multiple servers, order the OS installation service for each server. The service is not available for Chipcore Line servers.

If you no longer need the Astra Linux OS, cancel the service.

Cost

Access to the Astra Linux OS installation is paid for along with your dedicated server plan — learn more in the Additional services and compatible products for dedicated servers guide.

You can view the cost in the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Dedicated Servers → server page → Services tab → Available for order.

Ordering the Astra Linux OS installation service

  1. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. In the Servers section, open the server page → Services.

  3. In the Available for order block, in the service row, click Pay.

  4. Review the order details and click Pay. Once payment is completed, a ticket for the service order will be created.

  5. If the server does not have an OS yet, the Astra Linux OS will be installed automatically. If another OS is already installed on the server, Selectel staff will coordinate a time with you to install the Astra Linux OS.

  6. Wait for a response in the ticket from a Selectel employee confirming that the Astra Linux OS has been installed on your server.

  7. After the OS is installed, a password for server connection will be generated. You can view the password in the control panel on the server page → Operating System tab. It is available for viewing for 24 hours from the moment the OS installation is completed.

Installing Astra Linux OS

The Astra Linux OS is installed via an autoinstallation, which is launched by Selectel staff. During automatic OS installation, all data on all disks will be deleted.

You can request the installation of the Astra Linux OS if your server is running a different OS or if you need to reinstall the Astra Linux OS.

  1. Create a ticket requesting the installation of the Astra Linux OS.

  2. Agree on a convenient time for the OS installation in the ticket.

  3. Optional: to avoid data loss on the server, before installing the OS, save your data or create a backup.

  4. Wait for a response from a Selectel employee confirming that the Astra Linux OS has been installed on your server.

  5. After the OS is installed, a password for server connection will be generated. You can view the password in the control panel on the server page → Operating System tab. It is available for viewing for 24 hours from the moment the OS installation is completed.

Canceling the service

After cancellation, the service will remain active until the end of the paid period. You can continue to use the Astra Linux OS during this period, but by the end of the paid period, another OS must be installed on the server. If the Astra Linux OS is still installed on the server by the end of the paid period, the service will be renewed for the next period.

  1. Optional: if the Astra Linux OS is installed on the server, install a different OS. You can do this via autoinstallation, manually from standard images, or manually from your own image.

  2. In the control panel, from the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  3. In the Servers section, open the server page → Services.

  4. In the menu of the Astra Linux OS installation access service, click Disable service. A ticket will be automatically created to coordinate the cancellation of the service.

  5. If your server still has the Astra Linux OS installed, a Selectel employee will clarify a convenient time for you to install a different OS. Make sure you have saved your data on the server.

  6. Wait for a response from a Selectel employee confirming that the access service for Astra Linux OS installation has been disabled.
