Order a dedicated server of custom configuration

  1. Select components.
  2. Place an order.

1. Select components

In the server configurator, component selection by default starts with the processor and proceeds sequentially. You can change the order of component selection and start with the video card. After selecting one component, incompatible components in subsequent steps are excluded.

If you need help choosing components, create a ticket or contact us through other methods — you can view the contact information at selectel.ru.

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. Select a project.

  3. If there are already created servers in the project, in the Servers section, click Order Server. If there are no servers in the project, the order page will open automatically.

  4. Open the Server Configurator tab.

  5. Optional: select a region and pool where the server will be created. The list of available components depends on the pool. After placing the order, you cannot change the region and pool.

  6. Select a processor and specify the required quantity if it supports operation in multi-processor systems. After placing the order, you cannot replace the processor in the server. If you require a different processor or need to change the number of processors, order a new server.

  7. Configure RAM:

    • select the total memory volume;
    • or configure memory modules — to do this, click Manage memory modules, select the module volume, and specify the required quantity.
  8. Add drives:

8.1. To connect a drive directly to the motherboard, click Add drive, select the drive, and specify the required quantity.

NVMe drives may be unavailable if the motherboard has no suitable slots for the selected configuration — in this case, you can connect NVMe drives via an HBA controller at step 8.2.

8.2. To connect a drive via an HBA or RAID controller, click Add HBA or RAID controller, select the controller, click Add drive to controller, select the drive, and specify the required quantity.

  9. Optional: add additional network cards. You can choose a slot for the network card: PCI-e or OCP. If there are no available slots on the motherboard for the selected configuration, slot selection will be unavailable. For example, if there is no OCP slot on the motherboard, the network card will only be available in the PCI-e slot.

  10. Optional: add GPU and specify the required quantity.

  11. Optional: add PCI-e trusted boot devices and specify the required quantity.

  12. Select a motherboard. If only one motherboard option is available for the selected configuration, the field will be filled in automatically.

  13. Select a case. If only one case option is available for the selected configuration, the field will be filled in automatically.

  14. In the Configuration block:

14.1. Check the configuration of the dedicated server.

    14.2. Select a pricing plan.

14.3. Click Order Server. You will proceed to order placement.

2. Place an order

  1. On the Ordering tab, check the dedicated server configuration.

  2. Check the region and pool where your server will be hosted. Change the region and pool if necessary. After placing the order, you cannot change the region and pool.

  3. Optional: if you added one hardware RAID controller to the server configuration and will be using a Linux-based OS, set up a RAID array.

Drives of the same size that were added to the RAID controller are automatically combined into one RAID array.

To set up a RAID array:

3.1. Click Add RAID array or change the composition of drives in an existing array.

3.2. Select the drives you want to add to the RAID array.

3.3. Select the RAID level. Pay attention to the specific features of configuring software RAID in the Control Panel:

    • you can add only two drives to a RAID1 array;
    • OS auto-installation is available only for Linux-based OSs and for RAID1 and RAID0 level arrays.
  4. Select an operating system for automatic installation on the server. To select:

  5. Optional: select the system drive on which the OS will be installed. If you selected a Linux-based OS in step 4, you can partition disks and configure software RAID.

  6. Optional: to connect to the server securely using an encrypted SSH protocol, select a previously uploaded and placed SSH key or add a new one. Learn more in the Create and upload an SSH key to a dedicated server guide.

  7. Optional: if you have a Linux-based OS and no HBA or RAID controllers are added to the server configuration, the User data field will be available. To automate server setup, specify server configuration parameters in cloud-config or bash script format. Learn more in the User data examples section.

  8. Select a traffic consumption model.

  9. Select a pricing plan.

  10. Specify the required number of servers.

  11. Optional: if you selected an OS for auto-installation in step 4, configure the IP address, to do this select a VLAN:

  12. Optional: enter a comment to the order. For example, specify equipment connection details or your preferred drive installation order. The installation order of the drives affects the order in which they are detected by the system. By default, drives are installed in the following order: NVMe → SSD → HDD. If a system disk is not assigned in the layout, the OS will be installed on the disk that is detected by the system first.

  13. Optional: on the Additional Services tab, view the list of additional services. You can order additional services after the server is handed over.

  14. Confirm you agree to the payment terms and conditions.

  15. Click Pay now.

  16. Review your order information and click Pay. Depending on the selected components, server setup may take from one to five business days. When the server is ready for provisioning, you will receive an email notification and will be able to connect to it. The billing period begins once the server is provisioned. The server password will be available for viewing for 24 hours from the moment the server is provisioned. If you forget the password, you can reset and recover it.
