Create a common network between virtual data centers

Organization-level shared LANs are designed to provide network connectivity between virtual machines hosted in different virtual datacenters. The shared network can be shared with other virtual datacenters in the organization.

Create a common network

  1. From the Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: from the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to NetworkingNetworks.
  4. In the Network Wizard, click New.
  5. Create a network. When setting up the network under General turn on the toggle switch Shared.

Make the existing network shared

  1. From the Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: from the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to NetworkingNetworks.
  4. Open the Network page → General tab.
  5. Press EDIT.
  6. Turn on the Shared toggle switch.
  7. Press SAVE.
