Create a shared network between virtual data centers

Organization-level shared local networks are designed to provide network connectivity between virtual machines located in different virtual data centers. A shared network can be shared with other virtual data centers within an organization.

Create a shared network

1. From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click Products → VMware-based cloud → Cloud Director section.
2. Open the virtual data center page.
3. Go to Networking → Networks.
4. In the network creation wizard, click New.
5. Create a network. When configuring the network in the General section, enable the Shared toggle.

Make an existing network shared

1. From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click Products → VMware-based cloud → Cloud Director section.
2. Open the virtual data center page.
3. Go to Networking → Networks.
4. Open the network page → General tab.
5. Click EDIT.
6. Enable the Shared toggle.
7. Click SAVE.
