Manage Direct Connected subnets

A Direct Connected subnet is a public subnet to which virtual machines connect directly and receive IP addresses from this network, without using an Edge gateway.

A Direct Connected subnet can contain between 5 and 253 IPv4 addresses. The limit for Direct Connected subnets is five per organization. To increase the limit, create a ticket.

Create a Direct Connected subnet

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the Virtual Data Centers section.
  3. Open the virtual data center page → Direct Connected subnets tab.
  4. Click Create DC subnet.
  5. Select the subnet size.
  6. Click Create.

Delete a Direct Connected subnet

Before deleting a Direct Connected subnet, disconnect all virtual machines and vApps from it in the Cloud Director panel. You can only disconnect a network from a powered-off vApp.

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the Virtual Data Centers section.
  3. Open the virtual data center page → Direct Connected subnets tab.
  4. In the subnet row, click .
  5. Enter the subnet address to confirm the deletion.
  6. Click Delete.
