Dedicated server traffic consumption model

Last update:

Traffic consumption model - a scheme for accounting for all dedicated server traffic (incoming, outgoing) that passes through an Internet port.

The available traffic consumption patterns depend on the port bandwidth of the NIC:

  • if the network interface bandwidth is 1 Gbps, only one consumption model is available - 1 Gbps with unlimited traffic;
  • If the bandwidth of the network interface is greater than 1 Gbps, you can select the consumption pattern - 1 Gbps unlimited traffic or 300 TB unlimited bandwidth. You can also increase the traffic or bandwidth consumption limit.

If the average channel load consistently exceeds 100 Mbps, we will offer you individual billing terms. This is necessary to maintain a load balance in the network and ensure high quality of service for all customers. Temporary peak speeds are not taken into account.

By default, at the physical layer, dedicated servers are connected to the Internet switches by copper crossover. This connection provides a speed of up to 1 Gbps. Organization of an optical connection is discussed individually, please create a ticket.

For servers in the regions of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk, if the limits defined by the traffic consumption model are exceeded, the speed and traffic are not limited, but additionally charged. This allows avoiding interruptions in the operation of the software that is hosted on the server.

If the set limits are exceeded, you will receive a notice with a proposal:

The cost of additional services can be viewed in the control panel: in the top menu click ProductsDedicated Servers → Server page → Services tab.

For more information about the overrun, view network statistics or generate a traffic report.

Change consumption patterns

For your information

You can change the consumption model once per calendar month and only for servers in the regions of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the Server page → Network tab.
  3. In the Traffic Consumption Model block, expand the menu.
  4. Click Change Consumption Model.
  5. Familiarize yourself with the changes being made.
  6. Click Change Consumption Model.

Increase consumption limit

For your information

You can increase the consumption limit only for servers in the regions of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.

You can increase the consumption limit by activating the additional service Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (in steps of 3 TB/10 Mbps). This will increase the bandwidth consumption limit (in 10 Mbps steps) or traffic consumption limit (in 3 TB steps). When the consumption model is changed, the additional limits are converted to the new model with the corresponding step - every 10 Mbit of speed into 3 TB of traffic and vice versa.

note

For example, you need to change the consumption model of unlimited traffic from 1 Gbit/s to 5 Gbit/s. To switch to such consumption model you need to order an additional service Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (10 Mbit / 3 TB step) in the amount of 400 pcs.

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the Server page → Services tab.
  3. Go to the Available Services block.
  4. Select the service Increase traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (step 3 TB/10 Mbit).
  5. Click Connect Service.
  6. Specify Payment Period.
  7. Click Pay for Service.
  8. The service will be bound to the server's tariff plan and will be displayed on the server page → Services tab in the Connected services block .

Pay for a one-time overlimit

For your information

You can pay for one-time limit exceeding only for servers in the regions of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.

Service with one-time payment is not tied to the server's tariff plan and is used for rare traffic/bandwidth overruns.

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the Server page → Services tab.
  3. Go to the Available Services block.
  4. Select the service One-time payment for exceeding the traffic/bandwidth consumption limit (step 3 TB/10 Mbit).
  5. Click Pay.

View network statistics

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. In the Servers section, open the Server page → Network tab.

  3. Go to the Network Statistics block.

  4. Click Show Network Statistics.

  5. Select a period:

    • day;
    • week;
    • month.
  6. The Internet Port graph displays information about the traffic flowing through the Internet port for the selected period.

Generate a report on traffic consumption

  1. In the Control Panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Dedicated Servers.

  2. In the Servers section, open the Server page → Network tab.

  3. In the Traffic Consumption Model block in the menu, select the desired report:

    • Traffic consumption history - generates a report for the past six months with month-by-month details;
    • Download day-by-day upload to CSV - generates a report for the specified period with day-by-day detailing.
