Dedicated server networks

Dedicated servers are connected to Selectel's network infrastructure by default and can be connected to:

Some Chipcore Line servers only connect to the public network; they cannot be connected to the local network.

To connect the server to public and private networks, separate network interfaces (aggregated network interface group) are used:

  • internet port;
  • port for a private network.

You can view information about the server ports in the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Dedicated Servers → Servers → server page → Ports tab.

The server is automatically added to the shared VLAN for the public network, and one IPv4 public IP address from the shared subnet is allocated to it.

If only one dedicated server is ordered on the account, a private network VLAN is not allocated. A private network VLAN is automatically allocated when ordering a second and subsequent dedicated servers on the account. One private network VLAN is allocated per account in a single pool. If you need a private network VLAN, for example, to configure connectivity with a firewall or a cloud server, create a ticket.

You can view the list of all VLANs in the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Dedicated Servers → Network → VLAN tab.

To connect to the network, you may need to configure network interfaces on the server.

If the dedicated server is unavailable over the network, you can connect to it via the KVM console. For Chipcore Line servers, you can order the additional service Connect IP-KVM for 3 hours or boot in recovery and diagnostics mode.

Connection to a third-party operator

Many telecom operators have a point of presence in Selectel data centers. You can organize a direct connection with them using the Direct Connect service:

  • Direct Connect — Physical Port — renting a port on a Selectel access switch. In this case, you organize the connection on the carrier side (verifying connection feasibility with Selectel, checking cross-connects, paying for communication channels, etc.) yourself;
  • Direct Connect — Logical Port — renting a pre-established, redundant connection between Selectel and a partner backbone operator.

Blocked ports

To protect Selectel infrastructure from malicious network activity, certain TCP/UDP ports are blocked, including 25 (mailings).

If the port is not subject to the specified restrictions, check its availability from the OS using the Nmap utility.
