Effector Saver
Effector Saver is a Windows backup program that supports working with cloud storage via S3 protocol.
Customize Effector Saver
1. Set up access to S3
Access can be configured by the Account Owner or a user with the role of iam_admin.
- Create a service user с role with access to S3. If you use a service user with the role object_storage_user or
s3.bucket.user, the bucket must have an access access policy. - Issue an S3 key to the user.
2. Install the client
On the Effector Saver website, download and install the client.
3. Configure the client

Open Effector Saver.

If you are opening Effector Saver for the first time:
2.1 Select the language of the program.
2.2 Activate the license or trial version.

If you are going to use Effector Saver:
- regularly or for automatic backups of important data, especially on a server or PC that may reboot — choose to run as a Windows service;
- otherwise, select run as an application.

If you chose to run as a Windows service, specify the user login and password used to log in to the device.

Click Next.

Optional: add a password for increased security:
6.1 Click Set.
6.2 Enter the password.
6.3 Press OK.
6.4. Repeat the password you entered.
6.5 Confirm the password.
6.6 Click Next.
6.7. When confirming the password, the program will prompt you to create a backup task. It is recommended to do it later, click Finish.

From the Tools menu, select Storage Management.

Click Create and select S3-compatible.

In the Folder window for archives to S3-compatible:
9.1 Enter a title.
9.2. In the Server Name field, enter the S3 API domain. The domain depends on the pool in which the bucket is located.
9.3 In the Region field specify the pool where the buckets are located.
9.4. In the Access Key ID field, enter the value of the Access key field from the S3 key.
9.5. In the Secret access key field, enter the value of the Secret key field from the S3 key.
9.6. In the Folder field, click … and select the cache to store the backups in.
9.7 Optionally: To test the connection, press Test. If the connection was successful, the Successful Test notification appears.
9.8 Press OK.
Working with Effector Saver
Create a task to backup a folder

Open Effector Saver.

From the Tasks menu, select Add Task.

Select Back up files and databases.

Click Create.

In the Task: Data Backup window, in the Name field, enter a name for the task.

In the Basic Options section, check the Include files in archive checkbox .

In the Archive Repository section:
7.1 Click → ….
7.2 Select the baquette.
7.3. Press Select.
7.4 Optional: To configure automatic deletion of backups, check the **Automatically delete outdated back **ups checkbox and specify the number of backups to be kept.
7.5. Optional: To store copies in a separate folder in the baket, check the Subfolder for backups in storage checkbox and enter a folder name.
7.6 Press OK.

Under Archive File:
8.1. Enter the name of the archive file.
8.2 In the End of archive name field configure the display of date and time to be added to the file name.
8.3. In the Format field select the archive formatting type.
8.4. In the Compression field select the compression rate.
8.5 Optional: to encrypt the archive with a password, check the Encrypt archives checkbox, enter and confirm the password.
8.6. Optional: to split the archive into parts, check the Split archive into parts checkbox and specify the size for one part.

Optional: in the Execute Commands section, add arbitrary system commands or scripts to be executed before or after the main backup task.

Optional: to set a schedule to start the backup process, under Auto Start Schedule:
10.1 Check the Run on schedule checkbox.
10.2 Set the schedule.

Optional: to specify after what time the task will stop, under Abort Execution:
11.1. Check the Abort task through checkbox.
11.2 Specify the time after which the task will be stopped.

Click Save.
Change the task
- Open Effector Saver.
- On the Task Setup tab, double-click a task.
- Make the changes.
- Click Save.
Change the startup type
You can change the startup type of Effector Saver from an application to a Windows service and vice versa.
- Open Effector Saver.
- On the Tools menu, click Program Options.
- Under Autorun, change the type.
- Click Save.
Perform the task forcibly
- Open Effector Saver.
- On the Task Setup tab, right-click on the task and select Run Now.
- Confirm execution.
Copy task
- Open Effector Saver.
- On the Task Setup tab, right-click on the task and select Copy Task.
- Optional: change the task settings.
- Click Save.
Delete task
- Open Effector Saver.
- On the Task Setup tab, right-click on the task and select Delete Task.
- Confirm the deletion.
