Manage backup jobs

Create a task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Click Create.
  4. In the Job Settings step, enter a name and description for the job.
  5. In the Retention policy box, specify the number of recovery points or days of data retention.
  6. Click Next.
  7. At the Virtual Machines step, click Add.
  8. Select the virtual machines, vApp, or organization for which you are configuring backups.
  9. Press OK.
  10. Optional: To remove an individual virtual machine from the backup, click ExclusionsAdd and select the VM.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Optional: To create a transactional consistent backup for applications on Windows VMs compatible with MS VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service), check the Enable application-aware image-processing checkbox on the Guest Processing step. We recommend creating a transactional and consistent backup if there are no transactional applications on the VM, for example, for common file servers.
  13. Optional: To enable file search in backups, check the Enable guest file system indexing checkbox. You can search and restore files without enabling this feature.
  14. If you checked at least one checkbox in the Guest Processing step, in the Guest OS credentials block, enter the credentials.
  15. Click Next.
  16. In the Job Schedule step, configure a schedule for automatic backups.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Optional: on the Email Notifications step, check the Enable e-mail notifications checkbox and configure to send notifications about the status of backup tasks.
  19. Click Finish.

Start a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the Control Panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Press Start.

Restart the job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the Control Panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsRestart.

Make an active full backup of the job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the Control Panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsActive Full.

Edit job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the Control Panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsEdit.

Deactivate the task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsDisable.

Delete task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsDelete.

Download the task list in Excel

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click Export.
