VMware-based Cloud Backup service description

Last update:

VMware-based Cloud Backup is an additional service for the VMware-based public cloud.

The service allows you to back up and restore virtual machines and entire vApps; it is not suitable for backing up Named Disks.

Technical description

The backup repository is physically located in Availability Zone 2.

Backup files are replicated in three independent copies.

To increase availability, all Veeam Backup & Replication™ (hereinafter VBR) infrastructure elements are duplicated or deployed in fault-tolerant virtualization environments.

The channel speed to VBR servers is not limited. Network bandwidth is up to 20 Gbps.

Payment

The backup service is paid via a pay-as-you-go model. The cost of backup storage for each virtual machine and the cost of the repository space occupied by backups are deducted from the balance every hour. Traffic is not charged.

Money begins to be deducted from the balance after a backup is successfully created. Resource prices can be viewed at selectel.ru.

Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager portal

Backup management (creating a backup, changing the backup schedule, or restoring a required VM) is carried out through the Veeam® Backup Enterprise Manager self-service portal. Portal access is enabled automatically when creating a virtual data center.

Authorizing on the portal

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the Backup section.
  3. Click Configure backup. You will be redirected to the backup portal.
  4. Authorize with the Cloud Director username and password.

Dashboard section

Data on jobs is displayed as a graph with the time and date of job execution, as well as network bandwidth during job execution. Statistics for the last 24 hours and the last 7 days are available.
