Managing backup jobs

Create a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Click Create.
  4. At the Job Settings step, enter the job name and description.
  5. In the Retention policy block, specify the number of restore points or days to keep the data.
  6. Click Next.
  7. At the Virtual Machines step, click Add.
  8. Select the virtual machines, vApp, or organization for which you are configuring the backup.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Optional: to exclude a specific virtual machine from the backup, click ExclusionsAdd and select the VM.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Optional: to create a transactionally consistent backup for applications on Windows VMs compatible with MS VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service), at the Guest Processing step, select the Enable application-aware image-processing checkbox. We recommend creating a transactionally consistent backup if there are no transactional applications on the VM, for example, for regular file servers.
  13. Optional: to enable file search in backups, check the Enable guest file system indexing checkbox. You can search for and restore files without enabling this function.
  14. If you checked at least one box at the Guest Processing step, enter the credentials in the Guest OS credentials block.
  15. Click Next.
  16. At the Job Schedule step, configure the schedule for automatic backups.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Optional: at the Email Notifications step, check the Enable e-mail notifications checkbox and configure email notifications about the status of backup tasks.
  19. Click Finish.

Run a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Start.

Restart a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click JobsRestart.

Run an active full backup for a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click JobsActive Full.

Edit a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click JobsEdit.

Disable a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click JobsDisable.

Delete a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click JobsDelete.

Download the job list in Excel

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can go to the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudBackup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Export.
