Managing backup jobs

Create a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Click Create.
  4. In the Job Settings step, enter the job name and description.
  5. In the Retention policy section, specify the number of restore points or data retention days.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Virtual Machines step, click Add.
  8. Select the virtual machines, vApp, or organization for which you are configuring the backup.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Optional: to exclude an individual virtual machine from the backup, click Exclusions → Add and select the VM.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Optional: to create a transactionally consistent backup for applications on Windows VMs compatible with MS VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service), in the Guest Processing step, select the Enable application-aware image-processing checkbox. We recommend creating a transactionally consistent backup in the absence of transactional applications on the VM, for example, for regular file servers.
  13. Optional: to enable file search in backups, select the Enable guest file system indexing checkbox. You can search for and restore files without enabling this feature.
  14. If you selected at least one checkbox in the Guest Processing step, enter credentials in the Guest OS credentials section.
  15. Click Next.
  16. In the Job Schedule step, configure the schedule for automatic backups.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Optional: in the Email Notifications step, select the Enable e-mail notifications checkbox and configure sending notifications about backup job statuses.
  19. Click Finish.

Run a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Start.

Restart a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Jobs → Restart.

Run an active full backup for a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Jobs → Active Full.

Edit a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Jobs → Edit.

Disable a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Jobs → Disable.

Delete a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Jobs → Delete.

Download the job list in Excel

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → Cloud powered by VMware → Backup.
  2. Open the Jobs tab.
  3. Select the job.
  4. Click Export.
