Connect disaster recovery through Veeam Cloud Connect Replication

You can connect disaster recovery to the Selectel cloud from the On-Premises infrastructure.

To connect disaster recovery via Veeam Cloud Connect Replication, you must have Veeam Backup & Replication™ in version 9.5 Update 4b or higher or Veeam Availability Suite deployed.

  1. Create a virtual data center.
  2. Order disaster recovery connectivity through Veeam Cloud Connect Replication.
  3. Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel.
  4. Create a replication job.

1. Create a virtual data center

Use the instructions Create a virtual data center.

2. Order a disaster recovery connection

  1. In the Dashboard, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the DRaaS section.
  3. Select the virtual data center for which you will configure disaster recovery.
  4. Specify the number of replicated virtual machines.
  5. Click Order.
  6. We will create a ticket and send you the connection details.

3. Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel

Use the Connect Veeam Cloud Connect instructions.

4. Create a replication task

Learn more about configuring replication jobs in the Creating Replication Jobs instructions in the Veeam documentation.

  1. In the Veeam Backup & Replication panel, go to the HOME section.

  2. Click Replication JobVirtual machine.

  3. In the Job step:

    3.1 In the Name field, enter a name for the job.

    3.2 Optionally: in the Description field, add a description of the task.

    3.3 Optional: If you already have this virtual machine in Veeam Cloud Connect and you want to enable traffic savings and replication acceleration, check the Replica seeding checkbox.

    3.4 Optional: To enable network remapping and reduce RPO, check the Network remapping checkbox.

    3.5 If the IP address in your cloud and Selectel's cloud are different, check the Replica re-IP checkbox.

    3.6 Press Next.

  4. In the Virtual machines step:

    4.1 Click Add.

    4.2.Add the virtual machine for which you will connect disaster recovery.

    4.3 Press Next.

  5. In the Destination step:

    5.1 In the Host or cluster field, click Choose.

    5.2 Select Cloud host.

    5.3 Select Selectel's virtual data center.

    5.4 Optionally: change the vApp and storage policy.

    5.5 Press Next.

  6. If you checked the Network remapping checkbox in the Name step, in the Network step:

    6.1 Click Add.

    6.2 In the Source network field, click Browse.

    6.3 Select the networks in your infrastructure that will be mapped to networks in the Selectel cloud.

    6.4. Press OK → OK → Next.

  7. If you checked the Replica re-IP checkbox in the Name step, in the Re-IP step:

    7.1 Set up the addressing rules.

    7.2 Press Next.

  8. In the Job Settings step:

    8.1. In the Replica name suffix field, specify the virtual machine replica name prefix.

    8.2 In the Restore points to keep field, specify the number of copies.

    8.3 Press Next.

  9. In the Data Transfer step:

    9.1 Configure a proxy or leave the default proxy.

    9.2 Press Next.

  10. If you checked the Replica seeding checkbox in the Name step, in the Seeding step, configure primary replication acceleration for existing virtual machines.

  11. In the Guest Processing step:

    11.1 Optional: To create consistent replicas of running virtual machines and protect guest OS applications, check the Enable application-aware processing checkbox, see the Application-Aware Processing instructions in the Veeam documentation.

    11.2 Press Next.

  12. In the Schedule step:

    12.1 Optional: to configure replication to run automatically on schedule, check the Run the job automatically checkbox and configure the replication frequency.

    12.2 Click Apply.

  13. In the Summary step:

    13.1 Check the job settings.

    13.2 Optionally, to start replication automatically after job creation, check the Run the job when I click Finish checkbox.

    13.3. Click Finish. The job is displayed under HOMEJobsReplications.
