Create a virtual data center

Last update:

A virtual data center is a collection of virtual cloud computing resources (processors, memory, disk capacity, networks). Virtual data centers are created within an organization.

In a virtual data center, you can create virtual machines, vApp, networks.

When creating a virtual data center, a Compact Edge router is automatically created.

By default, you can create no more than five virtual data centers. Virtual data centers have their own limits. The number and limits of virtual data centers can be increased.

Limits

Limits do not affect resource costs; they only restrict the maximum consumption level. To increase limits or the number of virtual data centers, create a ticket.

Standard limits:

Silver-1Gold-1Gold-1 (DR)Platinum-1
vCPU count100100100100
RAM500 GB500 GB500 GB500 GB
Memory5 TB3 TB2 TB3 TB

Create a virtual data center

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.

  2. Go to the Virtual Data Centers section.

  3. Click Create virtual data center.

  4. Select a cluster type:

    • GOLD-1 — a cluster with fast storage, suitable for hosting high-load applications and databases;
    • SILVER-1 — a cluster with universal storage and optimized cost, suitable for most tasks;
    • PLATINUM-1 (Moscow region only) — a cluster on processors with a high base frequency and fast storage, suitable for hosting applications that are demanding on processor frequency and disk subsystem speed.
  5. If you have selected the GOLD-1 cluster, choose the availability zone:

    • DUB3 (availability zone based on the Dubrovka-3 data center) — deployment in one availability zone (similar to SILVER-1 and PLATINUM-1 clusters);
    • CVT2 + DUB3 (availability zones based on the Dubrovka-3 and Tsvetochnaya-2 data centers) — deployment in two availability zones within a catastrophe-resilient solution.
  6. Click Create virtual data center.

View the virtual data center public IP address

  1. From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based Cloud → the Cloud Director **** section.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to the NetworkingNetworks section.
  4. Open the page of the required Edge.
  5. Go to the ConfigurationGateway Interfaces section.
  6. In the Primary IP column, view the external IP address.
