Rent a remote desktop

Last update:

You can connect to DaaS using the Omnissa Horizon HTML Access browser or through the Omnissa Horizon® Client desktop client.

  1. Create a remote desktop.
  2. If you want to connect to DaaS via a desktop client, configure the Omnissa Horizon® Client.
  3. Connect to the desktop.
  4. Optional: configure VDI.

1. Create a remote desktop

  1. In the Dashboard, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.

  2. Go to the Virtual Desktops section.

  3. Click Create desktops.

  4. Select the operating system.

  5. Select a desktop configuration.

  6. Specify the number of virtual desktops.

  7. Click Create desktops. When the desktops are created, we will send the connection data in a ticket via secret:

    • user name in VDI\d-xxxx-xxxxx format (for each desktop);
    • password (for each desktop);
    • administrator password.
  8. Save the connection data. The data secret will be deleted after seven days.

2. Customize Omnissa Horizon Client

  1. Download the client:

  2. Open the downloaded file and install the VMware Horizon Client.

  3. Start the VMware Horizon Client.

  4. Click Add Server.

  5. Type daas.vmw.selectel.com.

  6. Click Connect.

3. Connect to the desktop

  1. If you are:

    • have installed the Omnissa Horizon® Client - open it;
    • did not install Omnissa Horizon® Client - In a browser, open the daas.vmw.selectel.com portal and select VMware Horizon HTML Access.
  2. In the Username field, enter the username we sent in the ticket when we created the remote desktop.

  3. In the Password field, enter the password that we sent in the ticket when we created the remote desktop.

  4. Select the virtual machine you want to open via remote desktop.

  5. Enter the administrator password. You can change the password after logging in, but we do not recommend disabling authentication and setting up automatic login for the account - this may cause the desktop to hang.

  6. Click Login.

4. Optional: configure VDI

Use the instructions to Configure VDI.
