Rent a remote desktop

Last update:

You can connect to DaaS using either the Omnissa Horizon HTML Access browser or the Omnissa Horizon® Client desktop.

  1. Create a remote desktop.
  2. If you want to connect to DaaS using the Blast protocol (the recommended method), configure the Omnissa Horizon® Client desktop client.
  3. Connect to the desktop.
  4. Optional: configure VDI.

1. Create a remote desktop

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.

  2. Go to the Virtual Desktops section.

  3. Click Create desktops.

  4. Select an operating system.

  5. Select a configuration for the desktop.

  6. Specify the number of virtual desktops.

  7. Click Create desktops. Once the desktops are created, we will send the connection details in a ticket via a secret:

    • username in the VDI\d-xxxx-xxx format (for each desktop);
    • password (for each desktop);
    • administrator password.
  8. Save the connection details. The secret containing the data will be deleted after seven days.

2. Configure Omnissa Horizon Client

  1. Download the client:

  2. Open the downloaded file and install VMware Horizon Client.

  3. Launch VMware Horizon Client.

  4. Click Add Server.

  5. Enter daas.vmw.selectel.com.

  6. Click Connect.

3. Connect to the desktop

  1. If you:

  2. In the Username field, enter the username we sent in the ticket when creating the remote desktop.

  3. In the Password field, enter the password we sent in the ticket when creating the remote desktop.

  4. Select the virtual machine you want to open via Remote Desktop.

  5. Enter the administrator password. You can change the password after logging in, but we do not recommend disabling authentication or setting up automatic login for the account — this may cause the desktop to freeze.

  6. Click Login.

4. Optional: configure VDI

Use the instructions Configure VDI.
