Cloud server payment model and pricing

Last update:

Balance

A single balance or cloud platform balance is used to pay for cloud platform resources depending on the type of balance in the account.

You can pay for resources with different types of funds: basic funds, bonuses.

Top up your balance before paying.

Payment Model

The cloud platform uses a pay-as-you-go payment model. The balance is debited every hour for the previous hour of using the cloud platform resources and consumed external traffic, if it exceeded the free traffic limit of 3 TB for all projects of the account.

Payment for cloud platform resources is formed by projects. Each project contains a group of resources: number of cores, disk size and others.

Every astronomical hour, the cost of the resource group is updated.

The payment for resource consumption depends on the type of resources (quota or non-quota).For more information about quota and non-quota resources, see the Selectel Products that Support Projects subsection of the General Information about Projects instructions.

For quota resources, the maximum consumption per hour is taken into account.

note

For example, at 13:25, two cloud servers are created: one with 2 vCPUs and one with 4 vCPUs. The second server is deleted at 13:40. The bill for the hour 13:00-14:00 will include the consumption of 6 vCPUs. For the hour 14:00-15:00 only 2 vCPUs will be counted if no other cloud servers were created.

For non-quota resources, such as traffic or API requests, the amount of resource consumed is counted.

note

For example, the project launched five cloud servers with access to the public network. During the hour 13:00-14:00 each server consumed 2 GB of external traffic, and the free monthly traffic was used up. The bill for the hour 13:00-14:00 will include 10 GB of traffic.

If an object has changed the number of resources, such as the number of cores or disk size, the payment for the resource will change immediately.

note

For example, a cloud server has a configuration change from 2 vCPU to 4 vCPU at 13:25. During the hour 13:00-14:00, the 4 vCPUs will be charged.

note

For example, you have created a cloud server with resources: vCPU, RAM, and Universal Disk. If you shut down or suspend the cloud server, the resources continue to be charged every hour.

When transferring a project to another account, the consumption of project resources for the hour in which the transfer is performed will be taken into account in the target account. The receiving account will not be charged for this hour.

note

For example, a project was moved at 12:50. The project resource consumption for the hour 12:00-13:00 of the project will be transferred to the target account. Only the resource consumption before 12:00 will be counted in the receiving account of the project.

When the server is frozen, vCPU, RAM and GPU are not charged, while other resources are charged.

Statuses of objects that are accounted for in the payment

All resources created are paid for, even if they are disabled and in the following statuses:

Blocking resources if there are insufficient funds in the balance

If there are insufficient funds on your balance at the time of debiting, all resources of the cloud platform will be automatically blocked — and you will continue to be charged for them.

To restore access to resources, you need to top up your balance by the amount of the debt within 14 days after the blocking. The debt for resources that were charged during the blocking period will be automatically repaid. Projects are not blocked — you can delete the entire project or resources via API.

If you do not top up the balance for the amount of the debt within 14 days after the blocking, all resources of the cloud platform will be deleted. Projects will not be deleted.

You can set up balance notifications so you don't miss recharges.

External traffic

External traffic is the inbound and outbound traffic between the public address of the cloud platform object and the public address on the Internet. The rest of the traffic is internal traffic.

All projects within a single cloud platform account are provided with 3 TB of free external traffic every month. When the free 3 TB of external traffic runs out, the traffic will start to be paid for like other cloud platform resources. This means that the balance will be debited every hour for the traffic consumed in the previous hour. The cost of the traffic will be added to the total cost of the group of resources within the project.

Selectel's basic DDoS protection is enabled by default for the cloud platform. Malicious filtered DDoS traffic is not counted in consumption and is not charged.

Internal traffic

Internal traffic is the inbound and outbound traffic between the public address of a Cloud Platform object and the public address of another Selectel service, such as a Dedicated Server.

Traffic between projects and pools in Selectel's cloud platform is also referred to as internal traffic.

There is no charge for traffic (inbound and outbound) to any other Selectel services on the Cloud Platform side.

View Consumption

You can view the current cost of the entire cloud infrastructure, infrastructure and external traffic consumption and charges in the dashboard under Cloud PlatformPlatform Consumption.

Present value

Present value is the amount of money that the current cloud infrastructure configuration consumes over a certain time.

You can view the current cost in the dashboard under Cloud PlatformPlatform ConsumptionCurrent Cost tab.

You can see the current value of specific projects, resources and pools per hour, day or month.

Infrastructure cost data is updated every hour. They are displayed in the Dashboard 5-35 minutes after the actual change in infrastructure and its cost. Recently deleted resources can continue to be displayed in the dashboard until the next data update. In this case, resources are no longer charged from the next hour after deletion.

Consumption and payment schedules

Infrastructure consumption and payment schedules can be viewed in the dashboard under Cloud PlatformPlatform ConsumptionExpenditure Schedule tab → Consumed and Paid tabs .

You can view consumption of specific projects, objects, resources, regions, and pools. Consumption and payment schedules can be viewed for a certain period of time or sorted by days, weeks, months, years.

To upload consumption and payment details in .csv format, click Download CSV and select how the rows will be grouped in the upload (by hours, days, weeks, months, years).

All resource locks are displayed on consumption schedules and payment schedules.

Traffic

External traffic consumption for the current month can be viewed in the control panel under Cloud PlatformPlatform ConsumptionExternal Traffic tab.

To download a detailed breakdown of external and internal traffic consumption for each hour for all public addresses in the account in .csv format, select a period and click Download CSV. You can only upload details for the last three months.

Prices

Prices for resources and external traffic can be viewed at selectel.ru. Prices in pools may vary.

You can calculate the cost of a cloud server in the resource calculator.

Reporting documents

Reporting documents are available after payment.
