Restore from backup

Last update:
  • from bootable media (Bootable Media) — when the OS is inoperable;
  • through the Cyber Backup panel — if the OS is operational and Internet access is available.

Restore from bootable media

If the OS fails to boot, you can restore the backup from bootable media — a system image with drivers.You can create it in advance or download a ready-made ISO file, more details in the instructions Creating physical bootable media documentation Cyber Backup Cloud.

  1. If you don't have a pre-created bootable media, download a ready-made ISO file.
  2. Optional: generate a registration token.
  3. Restore from a backup.

1. Optional: download a ready-made ISO file

If you already have a pre-created bootable media, there is no need to download a ready-made ISO file.

  1. In the Cyber Backup panel, go to DevicesAll Devices.
  2. Pick a car.
  3. Click RecoverOther ways to recover…Download ISO image.

2. Optional: generate a registration token

With a logon token, you can access the backup storage without entering a login and password.To generate a logon token, use the Manage Logon Tokens of Cyber Backup Cloud documentation instructions.

3. Restore from backup

  1. Connect the image to the machine.
  2. Boot the machine using the bootable media. The Bootable Backup Agent opens.
  3. Press Recovery.
  4. Download the image.
  5. Click Configure network settings.
  6. Set up the network configuration so that the machine can access the Internet.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Manage this machine locallyRestore.
  9. Click Select DataBrowseCloud StorageLogin.
  10. Enter the account information used to log in to the Cyber Backup panel and click OK.
  11. Select the machine, recovery point, and mark the data to recover (logical volumes, physical disks, or files).
  12. Check the parameters.
  13. Click Recover Disk 1, where Disk 1 is the name of the data to recover.
  14. Specify the disk or volume on which the backup will be restored.
  15. Click OK. You can monitor the recovery progress on the Recovery Progress tab.

Restore via the Cyber Backup panel

  1. In the Cyber Backup pane, go to the Devices section.
  2. In the machine card, click Restore.
  3. Select a restore point.
  4. If the backup is encrypted, enter the password.
  5. Select files and directories to restore. The total volume of files must not exceed 100 MB.
  6. Click Restore.
  7. If you need to download individual files, click Download.
  8. If you need to download directories from the backup, in the backup list, click Other recovery methodsDownload files.
