Change DNS record

Last update:

If the network is connected to a DNS zone, the A- or AAAA records of ports on the network are changed automatically when the IP address or domain name of the port is changed. They can also be changed manually. CNAME, MX, TXT records can only be changed manually.

You can see if the network is connected to the zone in the control panel: in the top menu, click ProductsCloud ServersPrivate DNSDNS Resolvers tab → in the network row, the DNS zone field.

  1. In the dashboard, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

  2. Go to the Private DNS section.

  3. Open the zone page.

  4. In the Records block, in the row of the desired A or AAAA record, click and select Edit Record.

  5. Change the desired parameters. You can change:

    • record type;
    • the domain name for which the record is valid;
    • list of IP addresses that are associated with the domain name;
    • TTL of the entry. TTL is the time during which a resource entry in the NS server cache is considered up-to-date and does not need to be re-cached.
  6. If you changed the record type in step 5, enter a new value for the record based on the new type:

    • for CNAME - the target domain name to which the alias should translate. This can be any domain name in FQDN format, with a dot at the end;
    • for MX - priority and the name of the mail server with a space, e.g. 10 mail.example.com. The smaller the number, the higher the priority. The mail server name must be in the same zone as the domain name of the record. To add another value, click + and enter the details of another mail server. You can add a maximum of 100 mail servers;
    • for TXT - any text up to 255 characters. To add another value, press + and enter text. You can add a maximum of 100 values.
  7. Click Save.
