General information about the Metrics service

The Metrics service is designed to collect, store and analyze Selectel product metrics.

You can collect metrics of cloud servers, attached disks, and networks.

Metrics can assess resource utilization, identify application and infrastructure bottlenecks, and distinguish one-time anomalies from system degradation.

Principle of operation

The Metrics service automatically collects metrics about the state of your resources. A metric is a quantitative performance indicator in Prometheus format.

A metric is a single record and consists of three parameters:

  • metric_name - metric name;
  • label_name - The name of the label of the metric;
  • label_value - label value.

Metrics that relate to specific products or services are organized in a namespace. The namespaces are fixed and cannot be changed.
