Product Description File Storage

Selectel Network File Storage is a fault-tolerant, scalable file system for data storage. It can be connected to:

File storage can be connected to multiple products at the same time, including in different products. poolahs. For example, you can connect the storage to a dedicated server in the SPB-2 pool and a cloud server in the ru-7a pool segment — the servers can use the storage at the same time.

File storage is based on cloud platform network disks with triple replication of disk volumes.

You can work with the file storage in the control panels through OpenStack CLI or Terraform.

The product supports user types and roles, projects and project limits and quotas.

Protocols

NFSv4 and CIFS SMBv3 protocols are supported.

Limitations

The minimum file storage size is 50 GB and the maximum is 50 TB.

Types of file storage

  • HDD Basic — suitable for storing large amounts of data that do not need to be read or rewritten frequently: backups, archives, documents;
  • SSD Universal — can be used as a primary storage infrastructure if you cannot mount a disk, as well as for storing datasets and models in machine learning clusters and storing "raw" data for high-performance computing. Can be used in Kubernetes as a Persistent Volume with ReadWriteMany access mode (mount the volume to multiple nodes);
  • SSD Fast — suitable for workloads that require higher performance of data input and output, as well as for storing datasets and models in machine learning clusters and storing "raw" data for high-performance computing. It can be used in Kubernetes as a Persistent Volume with ReadWriteMany access mode (mounting the volume to multiple nodes).

File storage types are distinguished by their bandwidth values and number of read and write operations. See the table for details File storage limits.

In different pool segments different types of file storage are available. You can view the availability of types in the availability matrix File storage.

File storage limits

Throughput values and read and write limits in IOPS depend on the type of file storage.

File storages of the same type in different pool segments can have different limits. For example, if two storages with SSD Universal type are located in different segments (the first in ru-1c, the second in ru-8a), their limits will be different.
