Backup

Cloud servers

Selectel provides infrastructure level services, so there is no default backup for cloud servers.

You can back up using backups, images, or snapshots. You can compare the tools in the Backup Methods table.

You can create backups manually or set up automatic scheduled backups.

Managed Kubernetes

In a Managed Kubernetes cluster, you can use VolumeSnapshots, which are copies of the contents of Persistent Volumes at a certain point in time, to back up data. You can create a snapshot and then restore a persistent volume from it.

Snapshots can also be used to transfer data to another share without having to create a new disk.

Cloud databases

In cloud databases, the cluster is backed up automatically using WAL-G. All databases except Redis are restored to Point-in-Time Recovery. The frequency of backups depends on the selected database.

Backups are stored in Selectel object storage isolated from other users' backups.Backups cannot be unloaded. Automatic backups cannot be disabled.

Read more about backup in the instructions for PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL for 1C, PostgreSQL TimescaleDB, MySQL sync, MySQL semi-sync, Redis.

Backup to object storage

To automate data backup to object storage, you can use S3cmd and Cyberduck. See an example of how to configure scheduled backups using S3cmd.

Backup based on Cyber Backup Cloud product

Cyber Backup Cloud — is a data backup and recovery solution with protection against encryption viruses from Cyberprotect. Cyber Backup is included in the Russian software registry. The solution is suitable for any physical servers, workstations and virtual machines running supported versions of Windows and Linux operating systems — see instructions for details Supported operating systems and environments Cyber Backup Cloud documentation.
