Manage backup jobs

Create a task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Click Create.
  4. In step Job Settings enter the name and description of the job.
  5. In the block Retention policy Specify the number of recovery points or days of data retention.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In step Virtual Machines click Add.
  8. Select the virtual machines, vApp, or organization for which you are configuring backups.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Optional: To remove an individual virtual machine from backup, click ExclusionsAdd and select VM.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Optional: To create a transactionally consistent backup for applications on Windows VMs compatible with MS VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service), in step Guest Processing check the box Enable application-aware image-processing. We recommend creating a transactional-consistent backup when there are no transactional applications on the VM, for example, for common file servers.
  13. Optional: to enable searching by files in backups, check the checkbox Enable guest file system indexing. You can search and restore files without enabling this feature.
  14. If at step Guest Processing you checked at least one checkbox in the box. Guest OS credentials enter your credentials.
  15. Click Next.
  16. In step Job Schedule set up a schedule for automatic backups.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Optional: at step Email Notifications check the box Enable e-mail notifications and configure to send notifications about the status of backup tasks.
  19. Click Finish.

Start a job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click Start.

Restart the job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsRestart.

Make an active full backup of the job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsActive Full.

Edit job

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsEdit.

Deactivate the task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsDisable.

Delete task

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click JobsDelete.

Download the task list in Excel

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication portal. You can access the portal from control panels: VMware-based cloudBackupConfigure backup.
  2. Open the tab Jobs.
  3. Mark the assignment.
  4. Click Export.
