Delete virtual data center

If the virtual data center is deleted, all information stored in it will be deleted — it will be impossible to restore this data.

Once the virtual data center is deleted, the payment for the public cloud will stop.

  1. Delete vApps.
  2. Delete virtual machines that are not bound to a vApp.
  3. Delete disks.
  4. Delete catalogs.
  5. Delete an empty virtual data center.

1. Remove vApps

See the Manage vApps and virtual machines instructions for more information on deleting vApps.

2. Delete virtual machines

3. Remove disks

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: Cloud powered by VMwareCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to StorageNamed Disks.
  4. Mark the disks.
  5. Press Delete.

4. Delete directories

Together with the directory, all its contents — vApp templates and downloaded files — are deleted.

Files belonging to different virtual data centers can be stored in the same directory. If you delete such a directory, its files become inaccessible to other data centers. If there are such objects in the directory, do not delete it, but delete individual files and vApp templates that apply only to the virtual data center being deleted.

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: VMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page → Libraries tab.
  3. Optional: download the contents of the catalogs under Content LibrariesvApp Templates or Content LibrariesMedia & Other.
  4. Go to Content LibrariesCatalogs.
  5. From the menu of the catalog, click Delete.

Delete files

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: VMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Open the Libraries tab.
  4. Go to Content LibrariesCatalogs.
  5. From the file menu, click Delete.

Delete vApp templates

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: Cloud powered by VMwareCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Open the Libraries tab.
  4. Go to Content LibrariesvApp Templates.
  5. From the template menu, click Delete.

5. Delete an empty virtual data center

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud powered by VMware.
  2. From the virtual data center menu, click Delete Data Center.
