Create a common network between virtual data centers

Organization-level shared LANs are designed to provide network connectivity between virtual machines hosted in different virtual data centers. The shared network can be shared with other virtual data centers in the organization.

Create a common network⁠

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: Cloud powered by VMware → Cloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to Networking → Networks.
  4. In the Network Wizard, click New.
  5. Create network. When configuring the network under General, turn on the Shared toggle switch.

Make the existing network shared⁠

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: Cloud powered by VMware → Cloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to Networking → Networks.
  4. Open the network page → General tab.
  5. Press EDIT.
  6. Turn on the Shared toggle switch.
  7. Press SAVE.
