Customize Application Profile
Application Profiles provide greater control over network traffic. You can use them to define the behavior of specific types of traffic.
-
From the Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: from the top menu, click Products → VMware-based Cloud → Cloud Director.
-
Open the Networking → Edge Gateways tab.
-
Open the page of the desired Edge.
-
Press SERVICES.
-
Open the Load Balancer → Application Profiles tab.
-
Press +.
-
Enter the name of the profile.
-
In the Type field, select the type of traffic for which the profile will be applied.
-
Optional: To store and track session data (for example, which server in the pool serves a user request), in the Persistence field, select by which parameter to do so. User requests will be routed to the same pool member for the life of the session or subsequent sessions.
-
To have Edge stop terminating SSL and have the termination occur directly on the servers for which balancing is performed, enable the Enable SSL passthrough toggle switch.
-
To determine the source IP address of a client connecting to the web server through the balancer, enable the Insert X-Forwarded-For HTTP header toggle switch.
-
To specify that the selected pool consists of HTTPS servers, enable the Enable Pool Side SSL toggle switch.
-
If you selected HTTPS in the Type field, to balance HTTPS traffic, enable the Enable Pool Side SSL toggle switch and check the certificate box:
- for a virtual server — on the Virtual Server Certificates → Service Certificate tab;
- for a server pool — on the Pool Certificates → Service Certificate tab.
