Customize Application Profile
Application Profiles provide greater control over network traffic. You can use them to define the behavior of specific types of traffic.
-
From control panel open the Cloud Director panel: VMware-based cloud → Cloud Director.
-
Open the tab Networking → Edge Gateways.
-
Open the page of the desired Edge.
-
Click SERVICES.
-
Open the tab Load Balancer → Application Profiles.
-
Click +.
-
Enter the name of the profile.
-
In the field Type select the type of traffic for which the profile will be applied.
-
Optional: to store and track session data (e.g., which server in the pool is serving a user request), in the field Persistence select by which parameter to do this. User requests will be routed to the same pool member for the life of the session or subsequent sessions.
-
To have Edge stop terminating SSL and have the termination occur directly on the servers for which balancing is being performed, turn on the toggle switch Enable SSL passthrough.
-
To determine the source IP address of a client connecting to the web server through the balancer, turn on the toggle switch Insert X-Forwarded-For HTTP header.
-
To specify that the selected pool consists of HTTPS servers, enable the toggle switch Enable Pool Side SSL.
-
If the field Type you have chosen HTTPSTo balance HTTPS traffic, turn on the toggle switch. Enable Pool Side SSL and mark the certificate:
- for a virtual server — on the tab Virtual Server Certificates → Service Certificate;
- for server pool — on the tab Pool Certificates → Service Certificate.
