Create a server pool

  1. From Control Panel, open the Cloud Director panel: Cloud powered by VMwareCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to NetworkingEdges.
  4. Open the page of the desired Edge.
  5. Press SERVICES.
  6. Open the Load BalancerPools tab.
  7. Press +.
  8. Enter the name of the pool.
  9. In the Algorithm field, select balancing algorithm.
  10. In the Monitor field, select the monitoring type for the health check backend.
  11. In order for the back-end servers to see the original source IP of the clients and for Edge to act as the default gateway, enable the Transparent toggle switch. If the toggle switch is off, traffic for internal servers comes from the source IP of the balancer.
  12. In the Members box, press +.
  13. Enter the name of the server.
  14. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address of the server.
  15. In the Port field, enter the port on which the server will receive traffic.
  16. In the Monitor Port field, enter the health check port (Monitor healthcheck).
  17. In the Weight field, enter a weight — this can be used to adjust the proportional amount of traffic received for a particular pool member.
  18. Optional: In the Max Connections field, enter the maximum number of connections to the server.
  19. Optional: In the Min Connections field, enter the minimum number of connections that the server must handle before traffic is forwarded to the next pool member.
  20. Press Keep.
