Connect disaster recovery through Veeam Cloud Connect Replication

You can connect disaster recovery to the Selectel cloud from the On-Premises infrastructure.

To connect disaster recovery via Veeam Cloud Connect Replication, you must have Veeam Backup & Replication™ version 9.5 Update 4b or higher or Veeam Availability Suite deployed.

  1. Create virtual data center.
  2. Order disaster recovery connectivity via Veeam Cloud Connect Replication.
  3. Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel.
  4. Create replication job.

1. Create a virtual data center

Use the Create virtual data center instruction.

2. Order disaster recovery connection

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud powered by VMwareDRaaS.
  2. Select the virtual data center for which you will configure disaster recovery.
  3. Specify the number of replicated virtual machines.
  4. Click Order.
  5. We will create a ticket and send you the connection details.

3. Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel

Use the Connect Veeam Cloud Connect instructions.

4. Create a replication job

For more information about configuring replication jobs, see the Creating Replication Jobs instructions in the Veeam documentation.

  1. In the Veeam Backup & Replication panel, go to the HOME section.
  2. Click Replication JobVirtual machine.
  3. In the Name section, enter a name for the job.
  4. Optional: If you already have this virtual machine in Veeam Cloud Connect and you want to enable traffic savings and replication acceleration, check the Replica seeding checkbox.
  5. Optional: To enable network remapping and reduce RPO, check the Network remapping checkbox.
  6. Optional: If the IP addressing in your cloud and Selectel cloud is different, check the Replica re-IP checkbox. You will need to configure the addressing rules later.
  7. Press Next.
  8. At the Virtual machines step, click Add.
  9. Add the virtual machine for which you will connect disaster recovery.
  10. Press Next.
  11. At the Destination step, in the Host or cluster field, click Choose and select Cloud host.
  12. Select the virtual data center of your Selectel provider.
  13. Optional: change the vApp and storage policy.
  14. Press Next.
  15. If you checked the Network remapping checkbox at the Name step, at the Network step click Add, in the Source network field click Browse, select the networks in your infrastructure that will be mapped to networks in the Selectel cloud, and click OK → OK → Next.
  16. If you checked the Replica re-IP checkbox in the Name step, configure the addressing rules in the Re-IP step.
  17. In the Job Settings step, in the Replica name suffix field, specify the virtual machine replica name prefix.
  18. In the Restore points to keep field, specify the number of copies.
  19. Press Next.
  20. In the Data Transfer step, configure a proxy or leave the default proxy.
  21. Optional: to speed up replication due to compression, configure WAN acceleration (not available in all versions of Veeam Backup & Replication).
  22. Press Next.
  23. If you checked the Replica seeding checkbox in the Name step, configure primary replication acceleration for existing virtual machines in the Seeding step.
  24. Optional: to create consistent replicas of running virtual machines and protect guest OS applications, under Guest Processing check the Enable application-aware processing checkbox, see Application-Aware Processing in Veeam documentation for more details.
  25. Optional: To configure replication to run automatically on a schedule, under Schedule, check the Run the job automatically checkbox and configure the replication frequency.
  26. Press Apply.
  27. In the Summary step, check the job settings.
  28. Optional: To have replication start automatically after the job is created, check the Run the job when I click Finish checkbox.
  29. Press Finish. The job will be displayed under HOMEJobsReplications.
