Connect disaster recovery through Veeam Cloud Connect Replication

You can connect disaster recovery to the Selectel cloud from the On-Premises infrastructure.

To connect disaster recovery via Veeam Cloud Connect Replication, you must have Veeam Backup & Replication™ in version 9.5 Update 4b or higher or Veeam Availability Suite deployed.

  1. Create a virtual data center.
  2. Order disaster recovery connectivity via Veeam Cloud Connect Replication.
  3. Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel.
  4. Create a replication job.

Order a disaster recovery connection⁠

  1. В control panels go to VMware-based cloud →DRaaS.
  2. Select the virtual data center for which you will configure disaster recovery.
  3. Specify the number of replicated virtual machines.
  4. Click Order.
  5. We will create a ticket and send you the connection details.

Connect Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Cloud Connect in Selectel⁠

Use the instructions Connect Veeam Cloud Connect.

Create a replication task⁠

Read more about configuring replication jobs in the instructions Creating Replication Jobs Veeam documentation.

  1. In the Veeam Backup & Replication panel, go to the HOME.
  2. Click Replication Job →Virtual machine.
  3. In the section Name enter a name for the job.
  4. Optional: if you already have this virtual machine in Veeam Cloud Connect and you want to enable traffic savings and replication acceleration, check the checkbox Replica seeding.
  5. Optional: to enable network remapping and reduce RPO, check the checkbox Network remapping.
  6. Optional: If the IP addressing in your cloud and Selectel's cloud is different, check this box Replica re-IP. You will need to configure the addressing rules later.
  7. Click Next.
  8. In step Virtual machines click Add.
  9. Add the virtual machine for which you will connect disaster recovery.
  10. Click Next.
  11. In step Destination in the field Host or cluster click Choose and select Cloud host.
  12. Select the virtual data center of your Selectel provider.
  13. Optional: change the vApp and storage policy.
  14. Click Next.
  15. If at step Name you checked the box Network remapping, on the step Network click Addin the field Source network click BrowseSelect the networks in your infrastructure that will be mapped to networks in the Selectel cloud, and click OK →OK → Next.
  16. If at step Name you checked the box Replica re-IP, on the step Re-IP configure the addressing rules.
  17. In step Job Settings in the field Replica name suffix Specify the virtual machine replica name prefix.
  18. In the field Restore points to keep specify the number of copies.
  19. Click Next.
  20. In step Data Transfer customize the proxy or leave the default proxy.
  21. Optional: to accelerate replication due to compression, configure WAN acceleration (not available in all versions of Veeam Backup & Replication).
  22. Click Next.
  23. If at step Name you checked the box Replica seeding, on the step Seeding Configure primary replication acceleration for existing virtual machines.
  24. Optional: To create consistent replicas of running virtual machines and protect guest OS applications, in the Guest Processing check the box Enable application-aware processing, see instructions for details Application-Aware Processing Veeam documentation.
  25. Optional: to configure replication to start automatically on a schedule, in the Schedule check the box Run the job automatically and configure the replication frequency.
  26. Click Apply.
  27. In step Summary check the job settings.
  28. Optional: to have replication start automatically after job creation, check the checkbox Run the job when I click Finish.
  29. Click Finish. The task is displayed in the section HOME → Jobs →Replications.
