Restore machine
You can restore an entire machine if it becomes inoperable using Veeam Recovery Media. This method can also be used to restore active partitions or partitions used by the OS.
Preparing for recovery
For recovery to be possible, you must have created a system image with the necessary drivers (Linux) or a boot disk (Windows) before restoring; for more details, see the guide Prepare for recovery using Veeam Recovery Media. If you are restoring a machine to the Cloud Platform, prepare a boot disk.
The restored machine will have a different BIOS UUID, which may cause duplicate machines to appear in the Veeam Service Provider Console (vac.selectel.ru). If you want to avoid this, delete the backup agent and management agent from the source machine before you start recovery. If the source machine is unavailable, delete the management agent in the Veeam Service Provider Console portal.
Prepare a boot disk for recovery to the cloud platform
If you are restoring a machine to the Selectel cloud platform:
-
In the Selectel image storage, upload the Veeam Recovery Media image.
Delete the management agent on the portal
- In the Veeam Service Provider Console, go to Discovery → Managed computers.
- Open the Discovered Computers tab.
- Select the machine.
- Click Management Agent → Delete.
