Backup recovery scenarios

To restore under any scenario, a consistent backup must be created: entire machine (Entire computer), individual volumes (Volume level backup), or individual files or folders (File level backup).

Recovery is available at the following levels:

  • files and folders (File Level Restore):

    • via the Veeam Service Provider Console portal (vac.selectel.ru);
    • using Veeam Recovery Media (Linux only);
    • using a backup agent, possible on a running machine. Recovery via the backup agent interface and command line is available;

  • volumes (Volume Restore) using the backup agent;

  • a virtual machine (Bare Metal Recovery) using Veeam Recovery Media; possible even if the operating system is inoperable. You can restore the entire machine, entire disks, or individual volumes;

  • a virtual machine to a VMware-based cloud (using Veeam Recovery Media) — restore to migrate a Linux machine to a VMware-based cloud. The required image is already available in the library.
