# Backup recovery scenarios

To perform recovery using any scenario, there must be a [consistent backup](/veeam-agent/connect-veeam-agent.mdx#configure-backup): of the entire computer (Entire computer), separate volumes (Volume level backup), or separate files or folders (File level backup).

Recovery is available at the following levels:

* [files and folders](/veeam-agent/restore-from-backup/restore-files.mdx) (File Level Restore):

  * via the Veeam Service Provider Console portal ([vac.selectel.ru](https://vac.selectel.ru/));
  * using Veeam Recovery Media (Linux only);
  * using a backup agent, possible on a running machine. Recovery via the backup agent interface and command line is available;
* [volumes](/veeam-agent/restore-from-backup/restore-volumes.mdx) (Volume Restore) using a backup agent;
* [virtual machine](/veeam-agent/restore-from-backup/restore-machine.mdx) (Bare Metal Recovery) using Veeam Recovery Media, possible if the operating system is inoperable. Recovery of the entire machine, entire disks, or separate volumes is available;
* [virtual machine to a cloud powered by VMware](/veeam-agent/restore-from-backup/restore-machine-to-vmware.mdx) (using Veeam Recovery Media) — recovery for migrating a Linux machine to a cloud powered by VMware. The required image is already available in the library.
