Create a Backup Policy

A Backup Policy is a template for applying parameters of backup jobs (Backup Job) to one or more computers.

Create a Backup Policy

  1. On the Veeam Service Provider Console portal, in the top right corner, click Configuration.

  2. Go to the Backup Policies section.

  3. Click New and select the OS.

  4. In the Backup Policy Name section, enter a policy name.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Operation Mode section, select the mode for the policy:

    • Server — for devices with server OSs; ;
    • Workstation — for devices with desktop OSs.
  7. Click Next.

  8. In the Backup Mode section, choose what to back up:

    • Entire computer — back up the entire computer; ;
    • Volume level backup — back up volumes; ;
    • File level backup — back up individual files.
  9. Click Next.

  10. If in the Backup Mode section you selected Volume level backup, in the Volumes section select the volumes and click Next.

  11. If in the Backup Mode section you selected File level backup, in the Files section select the files and click Next.

  12. In the Destination section, select Veeam Cloud Connect repository.

  13. Click Next.

  14. In the Cloud Repository section, configure backup storage.

  15. Click Next.

  16. In the Backup Quota section, keep the default settings and click Next.

  17. Optional: to store the backup cache, in the Backup Cache section, select the Enable backup cache checkbox and set a size limit.

  18. Click Next.

  19. Optional: in the Guest Processing section, configure guest OS processing.

  20. Click Next.

  21. Optional: to have backup jobs start automatically, in the Schedule section, select the Run the job automatically checkbox and configure the schedule.

  22. Click Next.

  23. In the Summary section, verify the backup policy settings.

  24. Click Finish.
