# Change VDS configuration

You can change the configuration of a VDS server by upgrading to a configuration with more vCPU, RAM, and disk space. You cannot downgrade to a configuration with fewer resources. To do this, you must create a new VDS server and migrate your data.

## Change server configuration \{#change-server-configuration}

The server will be unavailable during configuration changes. Data on the disk is preserved.

1. In the [Control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/vds/default/servers/), on the top menu, click **Products** and select **VDS**.

2. Open the server page → **Configuration** tab.

3. Click **Change configuration**.

4. Select a new configuration from the list of available ones.

5. Click **Save and reboot**. After the reboot, the server will be billed based on the new configuration.
