Boot a VDS server in Rescue recovery and diagnostic mode
If your VDS server does not boot or you cannot connect to it, boot it in Rescue recovery and diagnostic mode. After booting, you can access the server's file system, perform diagnostics, and restore the operating system.
In Rescue mode, the server's main disk is available for mounting and file operations, and the server's network settings are preserved.
-
When you have finished the server recovery and diagnostic tasks, exit Rescue mode.
1. Boot the server in Rescue mode
-
In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VDS servers.
-
In the menu of the server, select Rescue mode.
-
Click Boot in Rescue. The server status will change to
RESCUE.
2. Connect to the server
You can connect to a VDS server in Rescue mode:
- via SSH — for servers with a Linux operating system;
- via RDP — for servers with a Windows operating system;
- via the console in the Control panel — for servers with any operating system.
3. Exit Rescue mode
-
In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VDS servers.
-
In the server's menu, select Exit rescue. After exiting the recovery mode, the server will boot from the main disk.
