Product Description Backup by agents (Veeam® Agent)

Agent Backup allows you to back up applications, databases, volumes, files, physical and virtual machines based on Veeam® Agent.

The product is suitable for any physical servers, workstations and virtual machines based on Windows, Linux and macOS. Check the list of supported OS. Physical and virtual systems from which backups are performed can be hosted at any site as long as there is internet access:

  • own infrastructure (On-Premises);
  • private or public cloud;
  • Any data center or provider;
  • Selectel cloud servers, virtual machines and dedicated servers.

Agent backups include:

  • Veeam Agent license — leased by the provider automatically under the rental licensing scheme. The license is available for agents managed through Veeam Service Provider Console portal (vac.selectel.ru);
  • space in a cloud repository to store backups;
  • centralized management of agents and backup policies through the Veeam Service Provider Console portal (vac.selectel.ru).

If you use the Agent Backup service, Veeam Cloud Connect repository space is provided when you order the service. If you already have your Veeam Agent licenses, you can use the Veeam Cloud Connect cloud repository to store your backups in the cloud.

If you need help with agent backup administration, order Service Administration.

Technical implementation

Agents

  • Veeam Backup Agent (backup agent) — performs data backups, installed on a server or virtual machine;
  • Veeam Management Agent — used to manage backup agents from the Veeam Service Provider Console portal.

Veeam Service Provider Console portal

Backups are managed through the Veeam Service Provider Console portal (vac.selectel.ru), through which you can:

  • install and update agents (backup agents and management agents);
  • customize backup policies;
  • manage email alerts;
  • Monitor agents, backup jobs, and cloud repository capacity.

For more information about working with the portal, see Working with Veeam Service Provider Console and Veeam documentation.

Cloud repository

The cloud repository is based on the Veeam Cloud Connect solution.

To ensure fault tolerance, backup data is stored in three copies on different physical disks.

The channel speed to the cloud repository servers is unlimited. The network is built on 10GbE interfaces.

In a cloud repository, clients are isolated from each other and only have access to their backups.
