Product Description Firewalls
A firewall is a complex that controls and filters the traffic passing through it according to the rules configured on it. It protects the infrastructure behind it from network attacks.

The appropriate type of firewall depends on your infrastructure and usage goals.
You can also use free firewalls:
- for dedicated servers and hardware colocation — basic-firewall;
- for cloud servers — cloud stateful-firewall.
With a single firewall you can protect servers in different services and pools, use Selectel Global Router.
Hardware firewall
A hardware firewall is a separate device for handling traffic.
Hardware firewalls are available for order:
- Selectel is a solution based on a dedicated server of Prebuilt Configuration and a multifunctional software router-firewall deployed on it;
- Fortinet;
- UserGate;
- Cisco;
- Continent;
- CheckPoint.

The hardware firewall rental service includes:
- rack-mounted firewall;
- connecting the firewall to the Internet with a public IP address;
- connection to the Selectel local network;
- access to a graphical and console interface to manage and configure the firewall;
- replacement of failed components and network equipment in case of hardware malfunction;
- technical support for device and network connectivity.

Virtual firewall
A virtual firewall is software that is deployed in a virtual environment, such as on a cloud server or in a Public Cloud powered by VMware.
Depending on the required throughput of the screen, the configuration of the server on which the screen is deployed must meet requirements in terms of number of vCPUs, RAM and disk capacity.

The virtual firewall rental service includes:
- firewall image with license activation key;
- access to a graphical and console interface to manage and configure the firewall;
- support for Selectel resources on which the firewall is deployed.
With any UserGate VE model, you can order optional modules for advanced traffic analysis and enhanced protection against external threats. If you need additional modules, write it in the ticket when ordering a firewall.
