Perform basic setup

The network in the A-Data Center is physically isolated from the Selectel shared networks, because of this, the network and server operating system can be managed through the control panel impossible.

Connect to the server via SSH/RDP can only be done after the basic setup.

  1. Forward the ports to access the IPMI server.
  2. If the server does not have an operating system installed, install it from your image via IPMI server.
  3. Configure the network interface on the server.
  4. Optional: Forward the server ports to the Internet.

Forward ports for IPMI access

Port forwarding is performed on the firewall. To connect to it, use the data we send in the ticket after the firewall order. The list of ports used in the work, the purpose of their use and default values can be viewed in the table below Used ports.

  1. In the address bar of your browser, type the IP address of the firewall:

    https://<ip_address>:<port>

    Specify:

    • <ip_address> — The IP address of the firewall;
    • <port> — connection port.
  2. Route the IPMI ports for Virtual Media and IKVM Server to the Internet.

    The port in the firewall rule must match the port in the server's IPMI settings. For example, if you specify port 8443 in the firewall rule for HTTPS access, then specify port 8443 in the server settings as well.

    Use the instructions depending on your firewall:

Used ports

Web SSL PortIKVM Server PortVirtual Media PortWeb Port*
Purpose of useAccess to the GUI via HTTPS protocolConsole accessDownloading ISOAccess to the graphical interface via HTTP protocol
Default value443590062380

*For security reasons, we recommend disabling the Web Port.

Install the operating system from your image

OS installation for the server in the A-DC is performed via IPMI. To connect to IPMI, use the data received in the ticket.

  1. In the address bar of your browser, type the IPMI server address.
  2. Enter username and password.
  3. Go to the section Remote ControlConsole Redirection.
  4. Click Launch Console.
  5. The Remote Console opens. If Remote Console does not open, save the suggested Java file, run it, and confirm the security exception.
  6. Open it up Virtual MediaVirtual Storage.
  7. In the tab Device 1 specify the values of the parameters:
    • Logical Drive Type — ISO File;
    • Image File Name and Full Path — the path to the image.
  8. Click Plug In. The image will be connected.
  9. Click the tab Power Control.
  10. Click Set Power Reset. The server will be rebooted.
  11. When restarting the server, change the boot order and specify booting from Device 1.
  12. Install the OS.
  13. When the OS is installed, disable the image via IPMI. In the tab Device 1 click Plug Out.
  14. Restart the server.

Configure the network interface on the server

The network interfaces on the server in A-DC are configured via IPMI. Use the data received in the ticket to connect to IPMI.

  6. Authorize OS.
  7. Configure the network interface on the server

Forward server ports to the Internet

Port forwarding is performed on the firewall. To connect to the firewall, use the data we send in the ticket after the firewall order.

After port forwarding, you can connect to the server, firewall, and IPMI using the same IP address with different ports. If public addresses from a dedicated subnet are used for the servers, you can connect to the servers using them. For IPMI interfaces, we recommend using a private subnet and restricting access only from trusted addresses.

  1. In the address bar of your browser, type the IP address of the firewall:

    https://<ip_address>:<port>

    Specify:

    • <ip_address> — The IP address of the firewall;
    • <port> — connection port.
  2. Route the IPMI ports for Virtual Media and IKVM Server to the Internet. Use the instructions depending on your firewall:
