Secret versioning

Versioning allows you to store multiple versions of a secret for secret rotation without interrupting your service operations.

If a secret has versions, one of them is current – it is displayed in the version list with the Active tag. You can make a version current from the version list or when adding a new version.

You cannot delete a secret version — you can only delete the secret with all of its versions.

Add a secret version

  1. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Secrets Manager.
  2. In the Secrets section, open the secret page.
  3. Click Add version.
  4. Optional: to make the new secret version current immediately, select the Make version current checkbox.
  5. Add the secret value.
  6. Click Save.

View the list of versions

  1. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Secrets Manager.
  2. In the Secrets section, open the secret page.
  3. In the Secret versions block, view the versions.

Make a secret version current

  1. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Secrets Manager.
  2. In the Secrets section, open the secret page.
  3. In the version menu, select Make current version.

View a version value

  1. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Secrets Manager.
  2. In the Secrets section, open the secret page.
  3. In the Secret versions block, in the version menu, select View value.

Copy a version value

  1. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Secrets Manager.
  2. In the Secrets section, open the secret page.
  3. In the Secret versions block, in the version menu, select Copy value.
