S3 limits

Last update:

By default, S3 has no limits set; you can store any amount of files as long as there are funds available on your balance to pay for storage.

To control the volume of uploaded data and resource consumption, you can set a limit on the total volume of data stored in all project buckets. Limits for a specific bucket can be set separately; learn more in the Bucket limits guide.

If a limit is set:

  • when 90% of the storage space has been used based on the set limit, a warning will appear in the control panel;
  • when the limit is reached, a notification will appear in the control panel, and the storage will return an error when you attempt to upload objects. To continue uploading, free up space or increase the limit.

Set a limit

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click IAM.
  2. Go to the Projects section.
  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limitsS3 tab.
  4. Select the region and pool where you need to set the limit.
  5. Click Change limit.
  6. Enable the Maximum size switch.
  7. Enter the limit value in gigabytes.
  8. Click Save.
