Manage virtual data center users

When creating a virtual data center, a user with the administrator role is automatically created. You can create additional users and grant them access to virtual data centers.

Create a user

  1. From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click Products → VMware-based Cloud → Cloud Director section.
  2. Log in to Cloud Director with an administrator account. You can view administrator details and reset the password in the control panel: VMware-based Cloud → Users.
  3. Open the Administration tab.
  4. Go to Access Control → Users.
  5. Click New.
  6. Enter the username, password, and user role. A user with the Organization Administrator role always has access to all organization data centers.
  7. Click Save. The new user will be displayed in the control panel on the Users tab.

Grant a user access to a virtual data center

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the Control panel users section.
  3. On the user card, open the Access to virtual data centers tab.
  4. In the row of the virtual data center you want to grant access to, turn on the toggle.

Change a user password

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. Go to the Control panel users section.
  3. On the user card, open the Password reset tab.
  4. Enter a new password or click Generate.
  5. Copy or note down the password. Once the password is saved, it cannot be viewed.
  6. Click Save.
