Delete a virtual data center

When you delete a virtual data center, all information stored in it will be deleted; this data cannot be recovered.

After you delete the virtual data center, billing for the public cloud will stop.

  1. Delete vApps.
  2. Delete virtual machines that are not linked to a vApp.
  3. Delete disks.
  4. Delete catalogs.
  5. Delete an empty virtual data center.

3. Delete disks

  1. From the Control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to StorageNamed Disks.
  4. Select the disks.
  5. Click Delete.

4. Delete catalogs

Deleting a catalog also deletes all its contents, such as vApp templates and uploaded files.

A single catalog can contain files belonging to different virtual data centers. If you delete such a catalog, its files will become unavailable to other data centers. If the catalog contains such objects, do not delete the catalog; instead, delete individual files and vApp templates that belong only to the virtual data center being deleted.

  1. From the Control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.

  2. On the top menu, click Content Hub.

  3. Optional: download vApp templates:

    3.1. Go to ContentvApp Templates.

    3.2. Select a template.

    3.3. Click DOWNLOAD.

  4. Optional: download catalog contents:

    4.1. Go to ContentMedia.

    4.2. In the content menu, select Download.

  5. Go to Catalogs.

  6. In the catalog menu, select Delete Catalog.

Delete files

  1. From the Control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Open the Libraries tab.
  4. Go to Content LibrariesCatalogs.
  5. In the file menu, click Delete.

Delete vApp templates

  1. From the Control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsVMware-based CloudCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Open the Libraries tab.
  4. Go to Content LibrariesvApp Templates.
  5. In the template menu, click Delete.

5. Delete an empty virtual data center

  1. In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select VMware-based Cloud.
  2. In the virtual data center menu, click Delete data center.
