Configure Application Profile
Application Profiles provide more complete control over network traffic. You can use them to define the behavior of specific traffic types.
-
From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu click Products → VMware-based Cloud → the Cloud Director section.
-
Open the Networking → Edge Gateways tab.
-
Open the page of the required Edge.
-
Click SERVICES.
-
Open the Load Balancer → Application Profiles tab.
-
Click +.
-
Enter the profile name.
-
In the Type field, select the traffic type for which the profile will be applied.
-
Optional: to save and track session data (for example, which server from the pool serves the user request), select the parameter to do so in the Persistence field. User requests will be directed to the same pool member for the duration of the session or subsequent sessions.
-
To stop the Edge from terminating SSL and have the termination occur directly on the servers being balanced, turn on the Enable SSL passthrough toggle.
-
To identify the original IP address of a client connecting to a web server through a load balancer, turn on the Insert X-Forwarded-For HTTP header toggle.
-
To specify that the selected pool consists of HTTPS servers, turn on the Enable Pool Side SSL toggle.
-
If you selected HTTPS in the Type field, to balance HTTPS traffic, enable the Enable Pool Side SSL toggle and select a certificate:
- for a virtual server — on the Virtual Server Certificates → Service Certificate tab;
- for a server pool — on the Pool Certificates → Service Certificate tab.
