Create a server pool

  1. From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click ProductsManaged VMwareCloud Director.
  2. Open the virtual data center page.
  3. Go to NetworkingEdges.
  4. Open the page of the required Edge.
  5. Click SERVICES.
  6. Open the Load BalancerPools.
  7. Click +.
  8. Enter a pool name.
  9. In the Algorithm field, select a load balancing algorithm.
  10. In the Monitor field, select the monitoring type for backend health checks.
  11. To allow internal servers to see the original client source IPs and to make the Edge act as the default gateway, enable the Transparent toggle. If the toggle is disabled, traffic reaches internal servers with the load balancer's source IP.
  12. In the Members block, click +.
  13. Enter a server name.
  14. In the IP Address field, enter the server IP address.
  15. In the Port field, enter the port on which the server will receive traffic.
  16. In the Monitor Port field, enter the port for health checks (Monitor healthcheck).
  17. In the Weight field, enter a weight value; it can be used to regulate the proportional amount of traffic received by a specific pool member.
  18. Optional: in the Max Connections field, enter the maximum number of connections to the server.
  19. Optional: in the Min Connections field, enter the minimum number of connections the server must process before traffic is redirected to the next pool member.
  20. Click Keep.
