Project quotas and limits

Project quotas and limits apply to resources of:

Project quotas and limits for Cloud Platform

By default, each project is configured with project limits — restrictions on creating Cloud Platform resources. Project limits can only be changed via technical support.

Within the project limits, users with certain roles can increase or decrease resource quotas in the control panel or via API; for details, see the Change quotas.

Project limits

In projects, a limit is allocated for each resource — this is the maximum quantity of a resource that can be created in a single project. Limits are set automatically when creating a project.

Limits for a single resource may vary across different pools and pool segments. By default, limits for a specific resource in the same pool or pool segment are identical across all account projects.

You can increase the limit of any project via technical support. Different limits can be set for different projects. As you use the product, limits may increase automatically.

Increase project limit

You can set different limits for different projects.

  1. Create a ticket. Limits will be increased in only one project.
  2. Increase quotas.

Quotas

Quotas allow you to restrict the creation of cloud resources in a project to control consumption and limit spending.

When the resource quantity reaches the quota value, no more resources can be created. For example, you have allocated a quota in one project to create ten vCPUs in the ru-7a pool segment. Until you increase the quota, no more than ten vCPUs can be created. You can completely restrict the creation of a resource by setting the quota to zero.

When creating a project, quotas equal to the project limits are allocated for each resource by default. Quota values for the same resource may differ across different pools and pool segments. You can change quotas within the project limit.

Unused quotas are not billed — you only pay for used resources. For example, if you allocate a quota for ten public IP addresses, but create three IP addresses, you will only pay for three addresses.

Change quotas

The quota value for each resource can be increased or decreased, but only within the project limit. Different quota values can be allocated for the same resource in different pools and pool segments.

You can change all project quotas at once: increase to maximum (the project limit) or decrease to current consumption.

Quotas can be changed via the Quota Management API or in the control panel.

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click IAM.

  2. Go to the Projects section.

  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limits tab.

  4. Select the location where you want to change quotas.

  5. In the row of the required quota, in the Quota column, click .

  6. Specify the new quota value. The quota value must be no less than the current consumption, which can be viewed in the Used column. If you have reached the maximum quota value, increase the project limit.

  7. Click .

  8. Optional: to change all project quotas at once:

    • to increase to the project limit, click Increase to maximum;
    • to decrease to current consumption, click Decrease to consumption.

View Cloud Platform quota consumption

You can view current project consumption, maximum possible consumption for the current quota allocation (how much the project will spend if all quotas are used), and the current number of used quotas for each resource and pool.

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click IAM.
  2. Go to the Projects section.
  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limits tab → Cloud Platform.
  4. In the Current project consumption row, see how much money the project is currently consuming.
  5. To view the maximum possible consumption of the project, click How much will the project consume if I use all allocated quotas?
  6. In the table, in the Used column, view the current quota consumption for each resource.

Project limits for S3

By default, S3 does not have any limits; you can store any volume of files as long as there are funds in your account to pay for the storage.

To control the volume of uploaded data and resource consumption, you can set a limit on the volume of data stored in all project buckets. Limits for a specific bucket can be set separately; learn more in the Bucket limits instructions.

If a limit is set:

  • when the storage usage reaches 90% of the set limit, a warning will appear in the control panel;
  • when the limit is reached, a notification will appear in the control panel, and the storage will return an error when attempting to upload objects. To continue uploading, free up space or increase the limit.

Set a limit

  1. In the Control panel, in the top menu, click IAM.
  2. Go to the Projects section.
  3. Open the project page → Quotas and limits tab → S3.
  4. Select the region and pool where you want to set the limit.
  5. Click Change limit.
  6. Turn on the Maximum size toggle.
  7. Enter the limit value in gigabytes.
  8. Click Save.
