Change Registrar — transfer a domain name from another registrar to Selectel or from Selectel to another registrar.

Transfer a domain from another registrar to Selectel

During the transfer, the domain administrator data and the remaining registration period will remain the same. When the registration period expires, the domain will be automatically renewed for one year, for more details please refer to the Extend Domain instructions.

When transferring, you will need to specify the data of the domain administrator anew — it can be a physical person, including an individual entrepreneur, or a legal entity.

  1. Make sure the domain is suitable for transfer:

    • is in the .ru or .rf zone;
    • there are at least 7 days left until the end of the domain registration period;
    • domain administrator has not changed in the last 30 days;
    • domain registrar has not changed in the last 30 days;
    • there are no pre-judicial or judicial restrictions placed on the domain.
  2. From the current registrar of your domain, get an AuthInfo code — a secret code that is required for transfer. The code is valid for 20 days from the date of creation.

  3. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Domains.

  4. Click Transfer Domain.

  5. Enter domain.

  6. Paste the AuthInfo code you obtained from the current registrar in step 2.

  7. If you have already entered administrator information for another domain in Selectel, click Select Administrator, select an administrator from the list, and proceed to step 10.

  8. If you have not yet entered administrator details, click New Administrator.

  9. Select the administrator type — Individual (including sole proprietorship).

  10. Enter the administrator's details — they must match exactly those of the current registrar:

    9.1.Enter contact information: country of citizenship, email, phone number, full name (as indicated in the passport), TIN.

    9.2.Enter the details of the identity document:

    • for residents of the Russian Federation — passport data: series and number, date of issue, date of birth, by whom issued;
    • for non-residents of the Russian Federation — passport or ID-card data: number and date of birth.

    9.3.Enter the registration address: postal code, name of the settlement, region, street, house and apartment.

  11. Check the box I agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with the Policy.

  12. Check the final price of the domain.

  13. Click Transfer Domain. The domain will appear in the Domains section with TRANSFER IN status.

  14. We will send an email with a confirmation link to the email address you provided for the domain administrator. In the email, please follow the link to confirm the email.

    When the change of registrar is completed, the domain status in the Domains section will change to ACTIVE. You will receive a notification about it to the domain administrator's email.

  15. Management of domain resource records is automatically delegated to Selectel DNS hosting. If you want to use Selectel DNS hosting, create a zone and add resource records. If you want to manage domain resource records through a third-party hosting service, delegate the domain.

Transfer domain from Selectel to another registrar

  1. Make sure that the registrar you want to transfer the domain to supports .ru or .rf domain zone.

  2. Make sure the domain is suitable for transfer:

    • there are at least 7 days left until the end of the domain registration period;
    • domain administrator has not changed in the last 30 days;
    • domain registrar has not changed in the last 30 days;
    • there are no pre-judicial or judicial restrictions placed on the domain.
  3. In the Control Panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Domains.

  4. Open the Active Domains tab.

  5. From the menu of the domain, select Change Registrar.

  6. Click Change Registrar. The domain will move to the TRANSFER OUT status . Within five minutes, an AutInfo code will be generated — a secret code that is required for transfer.

  7. From the top menu, click Products and select Domains.

  8. Open the domain page.

  9. In the AuthInfo code line, click .

  10. Go to the control panel of the registrar to which you want to transfer the domain.

  11. Create an application for domain transfer, specify in the application the AuthInfo code you copied in step 10.

    When the new registrar approves the application, the domain will no longer appear in your control panel under Domains.
