Disks in a Redis cluster

Last update:

Only local disks can be used in Redis Managed Database clusters.

The local disk is connected directly to the compute server through the PCIe interface via NVMe protocol. Therefore, the local disk can only be created with a Managed Database cluster.

Local disks have no network latency, making them suitable for tasks sensitive to read and write speed metrics.

You can check the disk performance and throughput for different configuration lines in the Performance and Throughput table. You can view the list of available configurations in the Versions and Configurations.

Local disk features

  • SSD NVMe disk;
  • disk subsystem is configured in RAID 1 for the Dedicated line and in RAID 10 for other lines;
  • a Managed Database can have only one local disk;
  • cannot be disconnected from a Managed Database and connected to another database;
  • you cannot increase the size of a local disk, you can only change the node configuration;
  • is deleted along with all data when a node is deleted.
