Manage PostgreSQL for 1C users
Users are used to access databases in a PostgreSQL for 1C cluster. To create a database, first create a user.
You can grant access to a single database to multiple users, but there can be only one database owner. You can also revoke access for a user.
You can manage user access permissions to database objects using roles and privileges; learn more in the Configure user roles and privileges in PostgreSQL for 1C instructions.
You can also specify DBMS settings at the user level. Learn more in the Settings for PostgreSQL for 1C instructions.
Database owner
A database owner is a user assigned when creating a database. There can only be one owner, but you can change it. The owner cannot be deleted — every database must have an owner.
You can assign roles and grant privileges to the database owner just like to any other user. Learn more in the Configure user roles and privileges in PostgreSQL for 1C instructions.
Differences between the database owner and other users:
-
ownership of deleted users' objects is transferred to the database owner. After deleting other users, you will not lose access to the objects they created in the database and will be able to manage them via the owner;
-
in PostgreSQL 15 and higher, the database owner owns the
publicschema and can create objects in it.
By default, the database owner, like other users, does not have access to objects created by other existing users. By default, access to objects is only available to the users who created those objects. To grant access to objects, grant privileges.
