Announce PI prefix

PI announcement allows you to use your own PI (Provider Independent) IP address block. In this case, the PI prefix of the IP addresses is announced via the Selectel AS (Autonomous System).

Announcement schemes

You can use one of the following schemes when connecting:

  • direct — available only for IPv4 subnets. No gateway is required on your equipment: the prefix is announced via the Selectel AS.
  • static — available for both IPv4 and IPv6 subnets. Your router acts as the gateway for the subnet and must be located within the Selectel address subspace.

Announce a PI prefix for a dedicated server

  1. Make sure you have:

    • PI IP subnet (minimum size /24 for IPv4 or /48 for IPv6);

    • dedicated VLAN;

    • a route object for the PI network to be announced, created in the RIPE DB. The origin field must contain the Selectel AS number depending on the region:

      • St. Petersburg — AS49505,
      • Moscow — AS50340,
      • Novosibirsk — AS61976,
      • Tashkent — AS43647,
      • Almaty — AS48988,
      • Nairobi — AS329272.
  2. In the control panel, click Products in the top menu and select Dedicated Servers.

  3. Go to the Network section.

  4. Click Announce PI prefix.

  5. Select the subnet type: IPv4 or IPv6.

  6. Enter the PI subnet in CIDR notation.

  7. If you selected the IPv4 subnet type, define the announcement scheme:

    • static — select the Use my router as a gateway checkbox and specify the next-hop.
    • direct — do not check the checkbox. Select a region and pool (the subnet will be available to all resources in this pool; you cannot move a subnet to another pool) and a VLAN (the subnet will be available only to resources in this VLAN; you can move the subnet between VLANs in the selected pool).
  8. If you selected the IPv6 subnet type, specify the next-hop.

  9. Select the billing period and check the total cost.

  10. Click Pay. We will send a ticket when the connection is ready.
