Connect GOST VPN

  1. Ensure that a ViPNet network is set up at the external site.
  2. Order the service.
  3. Configure the encrypted channel.

1. Check the ViPNet network at the external site

Ensure that a ViPNet network is organized at the site you want to connect to the infrastructure in Selectel, using suitable equipment. To select and purchase equipment and create a ViPNet network, you can engage one of the official partners of the ViPNet manufacturer.

2. Order the service

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select GOST VPN.

  2. Click Select GOST VPN.

  3. If the ViPNet Coordinator model you need is not in the list, create a ticket. In the ticket, specify:

    • ViPNet network number — it can be found in the ViPNet Network Management Center software;
    • task description — what you need the encrypted channel for, for example, for connecting external clients to a service in Selectel;
    • planned number of inter-network connections;
    • whether you need to organize a high-availability cluster consisting of two ViPNet Coordinator devices.

  4. If the required ViPNet Coordinator HW model is in the list, click Order.

  5. enter the ViPNet network number for the external site; the network number can be found in the ViPNet Network Management Center software in the Network Information section.

  6. Describe the task, for example: connect external clients to a service in Selectel.

  7. Specify the number of inter-network connections.

  8. If you want to connect a cluster of two ViPNet Coordinator HW devices, select the High Availability Cluster checkbox. A cluster improves service fault tolerance. If you do not connect a high-availability cluster, Selectel will not compensate for service unavailability according to the Terms of Use for the GOST VPN service.

  9. Click Order. We will create a ticket and clarify the details for further work on setting up the connection in it.

3. Configure the encrypted channel

  1. Wait for a notification in the ticket stating that we are ready to receive data for creating the encrypted channel.
  2. Create an inter-network information file and an inter-network master key by following the instructions in the Initiation of Inter-network Interaction section of the ViPNet Administrator 4 manual.
  3. Save the created data to a removable storage device.
  4. deliver the removable storage device with the data to a Selectel office in person or via the Special Communications Service. No special conditions are required for delivery via the Special Communications Service. You can find Selectel office addresses on selectel.ru in the Contacts section.
  5. We will import the data from the media on our side and generate a file containing the return inter-network information. We will provide the file with the return inter-network information using the method you selected: in the service order ticket or on your media.
  6. Import the received inter-network information file by following the instructions in the Receiving Return Inter-network Information section of the ViPNet Administrator 4 manual.
  7. In the service order ticket, specify the networks from which requests to the ViPNet network will originate from your side. We will configure routing to these networks and allow traffic in the rules on the ViPNet Coordinator HW on our side.
